What is a State Business License?
Any Business in Nevada requires a State Business License and registration. A state business license is issued by the Nevada Department of Taxation. It is required for all businesses operating in Nevada, even if the business does not sell tangible goods and/or only offers services.
Do I need a sales tax permit?
Yes, every business intending to sell tangible goods requires a State of Nevada, Sales Tax Permit. You will be required to post a deposit with the Department of Taxation, which will be determined based on your gross taxable sales, and the sum of taxes you collect. You will be required to file returns on either a monthly or quarterly basis, depending on your sales volume. The deposit required by the Department of Taxation, can at times be substantial. However, we can assist you in obtaining a Surety Bond to provide the Department, thereby allowing you to preserve your cash and investment, for other use.
What is a Fictitious Firm Name?
Unless you operate your business under your legal name or legal entity name, you will be required to file a Fictitious Statement. In other words, it is required by Nevada Revised Statutes that every person or entity doing business in the state of Nevada under an assumed or fictitious name which does not show the real name of each person who owns an interest in the business must file with the County Clerk of each county in which the business is being conducted a Certificate of Business Fictitious Firm Name. This type of filing is often more commonly known as a DBA or Doing Business As. These filings must be notarized, and contain specific information and contact information.
